The sessions are tailored to help those with Parkinson’s and are individually programmed, with plenty of, rest periods.
For some of you this is just a reminder – for others, it may be the first time you have heard about it – but just a quick summary about the new Boxercise for Parkinson’s which is trialling in November and starting in earnest in the New Year. This is a non-contact exercise session based on boxing skills which will be held at the St Mary’s ABC Boxing Club at 1 Street End Road, Chatham, Kent. ME5 0BS. (For the avoidance of confusion – St Mary’s ABC Boxing Club is in Luton – it has nothing to do with St Mary’s Island where some of our other activities are held). There is limited on-street parking and the nearest council parking is at Luton Library (ME5 7LA) There are 3 free taster sessions: Saturday 3 November Saturday 17 November; and Saturday 1 December. These sessions will be from 2.30pm to 3.30pm but the Club will open at 2 pm and close at 4 pm and there will be light refreshments and the chance for a chat both before and after the exercises. After Christmas, the class proper gets going and the sessions will be on Thursdays, starting on 10 January 2019. Each session will be from 4.30pm to 5.30pm and the Club will be open from 4 pm and close at 6 pm to allow you time for a social cup of tea before and afterwards.
