The Parkinson’s UK Medway Towns Branch offers information, friendship and support to local people with Parkinson’s their families and carers, along with organising regular events and social activities.
At our monthly meetings, we find talking to other people affected by Parkinson’s in a relaxed and supportive environment is a great help, particularly when sharing experiences of everyday situations. This is the reason we have two support groups held for an hour in the morning: one is a dedicated programme for those with Parkinson’s and the other is a carers’ support group. After this we have therapeutic singing followed by a buffet lunch, table quiz and raffle. During the afternoon there is light entertainment or a speaker.
What we offer
Throughout the day we have an aromatherapist available for those members who book a session in advance.
We have a new gentle exercise class which is mainly seated. The exercise specialist is Parkinson’s trained and ensures that the exercises are appropriate for each individual and very importantly, that they are fun. These sessions are held every Wednesday morning 10.30am to 11.30am.
The monthly meetings etc take place at St. Stephen’s Church Hall, Maidstone Road, Chatham, ME4 6JE on the fourth Saturday of the month, (except August) from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
