Medway launch boxing sessions to help battle Parkinson's disease

VIDEO: A new project has been set up in Kent to help sufferers of Parkinson's disease fight the illness. Boxing sessions for those with the disease are now available in Medway as a way to stay active and beat the symptoms. Tommaso Dimiddio was at the launch of the new sessions.

After the successful completion of the Medway Boxing for Parkinson trial run over three taster sessions during November and December, it has been decided that from January it will continue to be run on a Weekly basis.  These sessions will be held at The St Mary’s Amateur Boxing Club in Chatham.  St Mary’s Chatham will be the second club in the UK to offer (non-contact) boxing training aimed at countering the symptoms of Parkinson’s.  The success of this initiative has led it to be considered as a useful therapy neurological conditions such as dementia.
